Good evening everybody!

I know for sure that the sentence "This is the first time I have ridden a bike" is correct.

What about the sentence "I am riding a bike for the first time".

Does the first sentence mean the same as the second one?

I would be very grateful for your answers.

Say you are on a bike ride with a group of friends. During the ride, you could say to your friends, "This is the first time I have ridden a bike."

Now say you stop for water and call a friend on your cell phone. You could say to him or her, "Guess what I'm doing? I'm riding a bike for the first time!"
