those/these (skills)

I ran accross this problem when drafting some cover letters:

I gained experience working at the front desk at [...], which improved my communication skills. I polished those skills while managing customer care department at...
Should I use those or these in the second sentence, referring to the skills mentioned in the first sentence?

You should use "these" skills because you have just mentioned them so they are close in time......you just mentioned them. You have a small error when you write "managing customer care department......it should be "managing the customer care department......
