through the reaching branches

Hi everyone,

"Even after he entered the forest, he could still see the moon through the reaching branches"

Can an anglophone explain exactly what reaching branches are ? Thanks!

It's a somewhat poetic turn of phrase, so the meaning is not 100% clear, but I would interpret it as meaning that the branches were spread, as if the tree was reaching out. branches étendues

The moon is one possibility. Each other is another, and the person walking through the forest is a third. That's why I suggested a very vague translation!
