How would you say “throw it a way” in this context?

My try

“What should I do with this old book?”

“Throw it away” = tíralo a fuera

"What did you do with the old book?"

“I threw it away” Yo tiro a fuera

Thanks

Throw it away= deshazte de él / tíralo
I threw it away= me deshice de él / lo tiré

en este contexto sería suficiente decir tíralo, se entiende que te refieres a deshacerte de él o tirarlo a la basura. En pasado sería: lo tiré o lo he tirado

    Hi!
I think just "tíralo" has an enough sense. Adding "a la basura" is only necessary when something must be tirado in the garbage/rubbish.

    I Colombia, we'd also say: "¡Bótalo!"
    – Mira, mamá, encontré este dulce en el piso.
= Look, mom, I found this candy on the floor.
    – No, no, no. ¡Tïralo! (or ¡bótalo!)
= No. no, no. Throw it away!

    Bye!

I threw it away = Lo tiré a la basura (en el pasado). Tenés razon con lo del verbo "botar". Según el diccionario WR "verbo transitivo ... 3 LAm (echar de un lugar, despedir) to throw o chuck out".

    Gracias,

    David

There are lots of ways to express “throw it away” in english

    “Throw it out”

    “Throw it in the trash/garbage”

    “Chunk” it

    “Toss it”

    “Pitch it”

    And many more.

    Hi!
Well, in Colombia both "bótalo" and "tíralo" are usual. Well, maybe "bótalo" is more used and more colloquial.
However, as I have seen on TV, it seems "tíralo" is more usual for mexicans.
    Bye ;)
