(...ti) Popescu

Hi, in the first file below there is a picture of a Romanian funeral featuring a horse-hearse with three stripes attached to wreaths of flowers and I haven't been able to find what is written in the first from the left (observer perspective), the first letters are covered, the readable part looks like "tipupescu".

The second file is the back of the picture with a note that seems to be in Romanian too, but maybe it is in another language.

Could someone please help translating both, if it's possible?

Thank you very much, do you believe there is any chance the text in the back might be in Romanian? I believe the picture might have been acquired either here in Portugal or in Germany, so it may have traveled a bit.

Could be, but I can't tell. It's not Cyrillic and seems to show some diacritical marks.

I opened your files and did image improvement with some tools and I read the following:
1. Funeral photo:
FRAȚI POPESCU (letter 'R' is covered in the original photo) - meaning literally "brothers Popescu"
The text is peculiar - what we could expect in our time should be:

FRAȚII POPESCU ("the brothers Popescu")
but probably a century ago that was the norm.

2. Handwritten note - 4 lines of text
1st line - I cannot understand
2nd line seems to be:
Margaritescu (I would expect: Mărgăritescu - a Romanian family name)
3rd line:
Carmen (Romanian feminine first name)
4th line: not understandable Romanian text, but I read it:
Foea. ?nti 17

Thank you very much, that explains why it says "our beloved brother-in-law". I suppose Elena might be the wife and Vasile the son.

It seems the back note is in German, at least part of it, I posted it on the German forum. They seem to have figured out most of it except the two words before Juli 17 that are likely the location.
