to appear/to be appeared

I have a question regarding the use of 'appear' in the following setences. I would like to know if the word 'appear' is used correctly. It seems to me that we should use the active voice ' to appear' instead of the passive voice 'to be appeared' in the sentence. Any comments on that?

'Wikipedia puts control into the hands of users, who determine what topics are covered and at what depth. The advantage of this is that an emergent term or obscure idea not found elsewhere is likely to be appeared in it.

Many thanks!

As far as I know, 'appear' is always used intransitively. Did you find this on Wikipedia? Let me know which page is on and I will correct it for you.
