Is it correct to say "the film has been awarded 5 nominations? is the verb award possible in that collocation?

Yes and no. Generally, we don't use "award" with "nominations". It would be better to say "the film has been nominated 5 times". However, let's say you were talking about a film that received an Oscar. Then it would be fine to say "the film has been awarded with an Oscar".

I also agree with bibliolept that "received" is more common in English.

I have never heard 'awarded with' something. Just 'awarded' a/n...
