to cheer / to whoop

Hello.
Is there any difference when a crowd is cheering and when a crowd is whooping?
Waiting for your answers. :)

    Yes. Cheering is the normal approval you would expect from an enthusiastic audience, especially a large crowd. Whooping is going a bit over the top and even making a whoop-like noise.

    I would say that British audiences clap and cheer. US audiences also whoop. They make a high-pitched "Woop!" noise when they approve of something.

    Cheer: Hurray! Yay!
    Whoop: "Woop! "Woo!"

    I've never heard neither a "woop" nor a "woo" noise in my entire life personally ahah! :oops:
