to conclude = intransitive verb?

Hello.
Can the verb conclude function as an intransitive verb, as in the sentence below?
Finally, section 6 concludes.

Or does this sentence require an object?
For example:
Finally, section 6 concludes the paper.

    Hi Olivinha,

    It can be intransitive. It looks a little odd as presented, but in context it might be fine.

    If you are uncomfortable with it stylistically, you may substitute end.
