To have a bit on her mind

Hi there.
I was watching this show when I bumped into this conversation:
-Her son slept here last night, and she's only just noticed he's gone?
-She has four children
-Yeah, so what?
-She might have a bit on her mind

I googled it but I couldn't find anything helpful.
Thanks.

Someone with four children would normally be very busy and have a lot on their mind.

The speaker's being ironic and deliberately understating it, by saying "she might have a bit on her mind".

The speaker actually means - She has four children, will naturally be busy and so it's not surprising she's only just noticed her son's missing.
