To hook a snap in the swivel

Here's another question. Still the same article about fishing. And this time I'm not sure about the verb "hook in". Is this correct :"we hook the mini ring or snap in the swivel?

"hook in" in this instance means to force the "mini-ring" through the snap in the "swivel" so that it remains attached.
