There is no background. "To hypothesize coconuts and play ping pong" means just "to do nothing". But what exactly "to hypothesize coconut" mean?

Nothing; you've apparently transcribed it wrong. A quick Google search on the phrase "coconuts and playing ping pong" showed what the correct preceding word was.

Oh, you are right. That's why I didn't understand it. I found this line in fan-made English subtitles for The Legend of Tarzan movie.
