Hi, there!

If an actor LANDS AN AUDITION, does it mean he will play in the movie or only that he will be auditioned for the part?

Thanks!

    Hi, regal,

It means only that he has secured the chance to audition - not that he has won the part.

The metaphor is from fishing - to 'land a fish' means to catch it and bring it safely to the bank.
