To "learn" vs. to "study"

How do you say "Chinese is a difficult language to learn". It is easy to study Chinese (just take a course), but difficult to learn it.

I remember that in Hebrew, ללמוד can mean both "to learn" and "to study", but is there a way to distinguish between the two concepts.

    Russian
    סינית קשֶה ללמוד
    ללמוד סינית זה לא פשוט

In these phrases ללמוד will be understood as "to learn", just because Chinese is known to be a difficult language and the concept of taking a course would be expressed differently

    Or even simpler
    סינית היא שפה קשָה
