I have been looking and looking and I can't figure out how I would go about saying "To shovel food into one's mouth"

The part that I am struggling with is finding the right verb for "to shovel"

    Welcome, chica206!
Literally, meter (comida en la boca) con una pala, but that's not said, as far as I know.
    Engullir la comida, perhaps.

Maybe you could use an expression like "comer como pelón del hospicio," to pig out ("to eat like a starving orphan")
or "comer como un heliogábalo" (to eat like a glutton) ... I'm sure there are a ton of similar expressions. Depends on what country
