Is the following sentence grammatically not correct?
In the 1960s, Ella began to sing more modern songs such as written by, for example, the Beatles.
The sentence above was one of the sentences given in an exercise book, and the author says a part of the sentence is not grammatically correct. I think the wrong part might be the phrase “such as,”but I’m not sure.

What do you think the wrong part is and how should it be rewritten?

    In the 1960s, Ella began to sing more modern songs such as those written by, for example, the Beatles.

    "For example" is redundant because "such as" introduces an example.

    Here's another option that keeps "for example":
    She began singing more modern songs -- for example, those written by the Beatles.
