I'd like to say the following sentence in Chinese: Today I taught a new student piano.
Does anyone know how I can say this in Chinese?
Thanks!

    Or simply:

For the latter to be crystal clear, it requires the background that someone asks you the question:"What did you do today" (and then you reply).

? (without 怎样)

Would 同学 only be used if the student was at a school? I teach piano at my house so I wasn't sure if this was the right term or not.

Thanks so much for your help, NewAmerica!

    Yes, you could.

The term 同学 in China has its broadest use. That is, it can be used to call any student in any school in China, as long as s/he is a student, whether at school or not.
