Hi, I'm writing a paper analyzing 2 photos, and the professor wants us to discuss ton and ambiance. Is there a difference between the two words or are they basically saying the same thing?

Thank you!

Is there a difference between "tone" and "atmosphere"? It's a nuance, but I think there is. Tone would be the author's voice - formal, friendly, clinical - and atmosphere would apply to the scene, what he describes.
