What do you think about this excerpt? I'm particularly unsure about the usage of "tongue".

English is incontestably one of the most popular languages in the world these days. Since it has become a leading means of communication in a myriad of fields, people throughout the world are learning the tongue.

I think the use of 'tongue' is fine. Others may disagree.

"Tongue" is another word for language. Less common in English than is some other... err... languages, but quite correct and understood without any problem.
