Hello everyone,

I am working on error messages for machine software (paint industry) and the following is baffling me;

Saisie obligatoire du top rebut (Oui/Non)

I know I should suggest something but I really don't know!
Thanks for any suggestions.

    Generally 'rebut' is rubbish, what doesn't fit, fails...
    In computer science, I suppose here it means the utmost failure. Maybe 'compulsory capture of the top failure'?

    Thanks Moon Palace
    In the rest of the document I have translated 'rebut' as scrap. This paint possibly isnt up to standard or is the result of test batches on the paint line.
    I really dont understand the 'top rebut'!
    Can we translate 'top' as rate/frequency? Even so, I'm not sure it makes sense!

    If we're talking of a continuous process in a production line, it could be the first liters (or whatever quantity) produced on the line, that is usually discarded. But this is as wild a guess as it goes here!

    Thanks Quaeitur, I think you are probably right, so, any suggestions?

    "enter scrap rate (yes/no)" It doesn't make any sense - help!!

    Possibly something like

    "Capture of top waste compulsory (Yes/No)"

    or possibly

    "Skimming off of top waste compulsory (Yes/No)" although that may be going a bit beyond the original
