Hola foreros:

I commonly hear traducir used with dative structures (ej: traducirle a mi padre), but I'm not sure if it's best used this way or with para.

Your help is appreciated. :)

  • Le traduzco a mi padre porque no habla español.
  • Traduzco para mi padre porque no habla español.

    Yes, both work. The first one may be more common, as you say.

    If it was "for" meaning someone receives the result of an action, like in a job, para would be normal (Traduzco para tal compañía).
