Die Treppe zum Strand enthält 200 Stufen.

Is that idiomatic?

Es geht um eine Treppe (?) die tatsächlich ca. 200 Stufen hat.

If you want to mention "ca." it is "Die Treppe hat ungefähr zweihundert Stufen."

But "200 Stufen" is fuzzy by itself. It includes "ungefähr" in its meaning if there is no context saying that it is an exact value.

Thanks both. That sounds nice and idiomatic!

    ... hat (ungefähr) ...

That's an interesting comment, Hutschi. I would include the "ungefähr" with 200, but not with 212, or, 184, for example. Whereas, you feel that 200 is purposely already rounding it, so you don't need the "ungefähr"? Maybe I misunderstood. Regardless, it's interesting to think about the difference.
