When gods created the world, Baobab tree was among the first trees to appear on the land.

When gods created the world, Baobab tree was the first tree to appear on land.

The sentence right above is false
in a question (true or false question) in a test.
I don’t understand why it is false.

Can anyone explain this?
Thanks a lot :)

'Among the first trees' refers to a group of trees, so the Baobab itself was not the very first tree, probably, it appeared in the first group of trees.

    What test was that?

Where did you find this nnyy?
Firstly, the sentences are not "good English" and secondly, how are you supposed to know the answer - unless the question relates to a prior text?

:D Having sat millions of tests, I am pretty sure this is a reading comprehension exercise. They give you the text, you read it and then they give you sentences that may or may not say exactly what the text says. And you have to decide - true or false.

When gods created the world, Baobab tree was among the first trees to appear on the land.

When gods created the world, Baobab tree was the first tree to appear on land.
Looks like we are given here the question sentence and the respective sentence in the text that it is based on.
