Can't think, sorry.
Something like "Put out of action"
"defunct" .... neither I know.
I just can't think of the right term.
The text is about a power plant. Two of the turbines have been "put out of use"....
Would somebody be so kind as to give me a hand?

    Credo che dovresti correggere il titolo del thread, "dismesse" e non "dimesse":) (suona un pò surreale)...
    Inoltre, io suggerirei "decommissioned" in questo caso (suppongo si tratti di impianti industriali), in quanto "phase out" mi risulta più utilizzato per indicare il progressivo ritiro di un prodotto dal ciclo produttivo (es. il phase out di un modello di automobile), mentre in questo caso si parla di smantellamento di apparecchiature, se ho capito il contesto.

    I'd say turbine dismesse, as dimesse doesn't make any sense. Dimesso has different meanings= humble (umile) trasandato (shabby) or released, discharged, dismissed ( rilasciato dalla prigione, rilasciato dall'ospedale, licenziato dal suo lavoro)

    Turbine dismesse, dismantelled, o smantellate e sostituite con altre più efficenti

    Dismantled it isn't a new word, rather a misspelled word for dismantle. I should have writtend dismantled. I was thinking in Italian when I wrote the word in question.
