Turn away Vs Look away?

    You could but they do have subtle differences usually. Turn away is a larger physical movment where the the whole body is moved in another direction. Look away is a smaller movement of the eyes. However, it is possible to say "I had to turn my gaze away, which would have the same sense as looking away. So it all depends on which action you want to describe.     I think that's a good answer. The two are not interchangeable in the sense of meaning exactly the same thing, but there is enough overlap so that either phrase might fit in many situations.
