Does the sentence sound good? I'm not sure if I should use the present perfect.

Visiting these buildings makes you feel as if you have turned back time by several years.

    It is OK to use visiting in this way and the rest of the grammar looks OK to me.

    On a point you didn't ask about: is "several years" really enough?
