This is the name of a character in Thomas Pynchon's Against the Day. I would like to know how it is written in kanji. If you have access to the Japanese edition translated by 木原善彦(『逆光』ぎゃっこう), please let me know how it is rendered in the translation. Thanks in advance.

Yamagata's blog entry was written in July 2007, well before Kihara's translation of the work in 2010. Kihara's rendition of the name of the young Japanese mathematician is 釣鐘ウメキ (Source: Nozomi Ōmori's Twitter entry).
