Can anyone enlighten me as to what the author of the above is getting at?

I've looked up "dormir debout" and I see that it means "a cock-and-bull story" but I can't understand how that can be fitted in to a description of a person!

    Thanks in advance :)

    French (France)
une histoire à dormir debout is actually a cock and bull story
Mais : dormir debout is also used to describe a person who is so tired that she could go to sleep while standing.
Il dormait debout = he was exhausted
