Hi,
Is this construction ok ?
Under the table is where I found it.
Would it be considered a reversed pseudo-cleft sentence or just a case of fronting ?

Pseudo cleft
What he needs is a new car.
Reversed pseudo-cleft:
A car is what he needs.

Apparently pseudo-clefts can only enphasise the subj, the object and the whole predicate, always starting with what, but the above example, under . . . sounds ok to me.
Many thx

  • Hola:
Sin poder definir esos términos gramaticales, puedo decirte que todas las frases que has puesto son idiomáticas y usadas en la conversación en inglés. Si alguien quiere comentar sobre las construcciones, bienvenido.

    Saludos.

A pseudo-cleft can start with any interrogative pro-form (where, what, who, when, why).

(Where I found it) is (under the table). (pseudo-cleft)
(Under the table) is (where I found it). (reversed)
I found it under the table.
