undo / dismantle a necklace <take apart>

Dear all, what verb is to be used here?
- Here are some beads for you.
- They look the same as those in the necklace I admired the other day, and I couldn't find them in shops! Where are they from?
- I dismantled / undid the necklace.

I think dismantle looks strange with a dainty thing. And undid also sounds weird.

    Yes, "dismantle" sounds like a large piece of machinary. "Undo" has this meaning "to untie; unfasten" with regard to clothing and jewelry so "I undid the necklace" is merely to open the clasp.
    I took the necklace apart.
