une baguette d’osier

Hello all

I really have no idea what is meant here. A baguette basket? A type of baguette?

Il a vieilli avec ta maladie, et peine de plus en plus en cuisine. Il se voûte comme une baguette d’osier, lui si droit devant tes fourneaux.

Thanks in advance!

What do you mean by stick, a branch, or literally a stick? He stoops like a willow branch, like a willow trunk, he stoops like a willow stick sounds weird? Maybe he bends like a willow stick. In English you would be more inclined to say stoops or bends like a willow. Does a baguette d'osier have a particular use?

    ps Thanks though.

A willow stem I think works. Willow rod is the correct term for weaving but sounds less poetic. Thanks.
