What does it mean, about a musical instrument?
The sentence is "The instrument has a hollow body and un unfretted fingerboard".

HERE is a "fretted fingerboard" of a guitar.
THIS guitare has no frets, just like a violin.

I find "fret" in corriere as "traversino" o "tasto".

So I'd guess "senza traversini" might work.

Scusa l'intervento ritardato, ma vorrei precisare una cosa. Ho trovato anche "tastiera" per tradurre "fingerboard", e "manico" per "neck" - quella parte sporgente dello strumento nel cui superficie superiore (la tastiera) sono incassati i tasti.

Forse i due termini "tastiera"/"manico" si usano intercambialmente per voler dire "fingerboard"?

Perfetto Baldplate. Ti rispondo da chitarrista.
In effetti il manico è il "neck" e la tastiera è la parte su cui suoni con la mano sinistra. (unless you are not lefthanded)
Ti ricordo solo che tastiera è il termine comunemente usato da noi musicisti...ehm, per parlare di "keyboard", ossia pioanoforte, organo etc...
