Bonjour,

Comment dit-on "unlimited roaming" en français quand il s'agit d'un téléphone portable.

Voici la phrase en question :

An iPhone with free calls to France and unlimited roaming can be enjoyed on request.

J'ai pensé à "itinérance mobile en illimité"

    - Itinérance
    - Déplacement
    - Roaming

    Itinérance [mobile] seems to be the term of choice by phone companies, although roaming seems prevail online.
    A targeted Internet search returns some 400 "roaming illimité" and some 100 "intinérance illimitée".

    I've also seen about 200 "roaming sans limite de jours/temps/durée" and 200 "itinérance sans limite de temps" (which seems closer to what "unlimited roaming" means).

    Either way, those are pretty low hit figures. Could unlimited roaming be such a new-ish concept (in France) that there's no consensus on what to call it yet?

    Le plus courant et le plus naturel sera de dire "roaming illimité". Si tu tiens vraiment à éviter les anglicismes, alors on voit souvent des formules comme "forfait Europe illimité". Pourquoi pas "itinérance (mobile) illimitée"
     
    En fait, je me demandais si le terme "roaming" était assez connu de tous pour l'employer. J'ai vu qu'on utilisait beaucoup le terme en anglais en effet.
     
    Autant je connais "itinérance", autant je n'ai jamais vu ou entendu "roaming". À l'oral, je suis à peu près sûre que je ne le comprendrais pas.
     
    Les opérateurs communiquent quand même en utilisant le terme roaming
    Exemples vus sur le Web des opérateurs français :
    S** : "Roaming data : nos offres pour vous accompagner à l'étranger"
    F** : "Forfait mobile Free : tout savoir sur le roaming inclus à l'étranger"

    Mais c'est vrai que je n'ai rien trouvé pour le plus gros opérateur qui s'adresse peut-être à un public moins technophile.

    Most European operators charge a lot for using data abroad. Most people will hunt for free Wifi when abroad, or make-do with a phone that just phones and texts (what a concept, eh?).

    A new law is supposed to change that later this year: Fin des frais de roaming en Europe : la consommation de data sera plafonnée

    Note that they use "roaming" in the title but "itinérance" throughout the article.

    C'est vrai que c'est de plus en plus utilisé mais n'étant pas passionnée de nouvelles technologies, "roaming" ne me disait rien au départ.
    En tout cas, merci à tous pour votre aide.
