uomini che mostrano il sedere all'osservatore

Hi everyone!
sto scrivendo la mia master dissertation in storia dell'arte. Descrivendo una statua contenuta nel dipinto sotto esame, dovrei usare la parola "sedere", infatti la scultura rappresenta 4 uomini in circolo piegati, di cui solo le gambe e i sederi sono visibili all'osservatore. Mi stavo chiedendo se esista una definizione migliore di "bottom".
My attempt:

" It represents a group of bowed men in a circle, showing the observer their bottom, while carrying a statue on their back."

    Buttocks strongly connotes nudity, but from the context given it's not clear if the men are dressed or naked.
    If dressed, a useful neutral word could be "rear" (plural: rears), or "rear ends" (possibly more polite/euphemistic).

    They are visibly naked!
    I think "buttocks" works very well. I've googled it and it seems that is very much used in art history papers!
