    How about "streken"? As in the saying "Een vos verliest zijn haren, maar niet zijn streken" (a fox loses his hair/fur, but not his tricks).
    BTW, overzetten is not used, it sounds like a "germanisme" (from "uebersetzen"), better is "vertalen"
