upset the apple cart

Hi guys,
I am wondering whether in the following sentence:

" It wasn't my intention to upset the APPLE CART "

apple cart must be translated as "CARRO DI MELE"

In this case I am really missing the meaning/joke!

    "Тo upset the apple cart" è una frase fissa che vuol dire "disturbare l'ordine", "fare casino" etc. "Non cercavo di fare cavolate" mi sembra bene. Le cavole non sono peggiori delle mele, davvero))))

    Probably the nearest translation would be "rovesciare la bancarella", as always happens in films during police chases.
