Friends,

My Urdu professor insists that the کے highlighted is truly کے, and not simply کی, as if repeating "جرم کی, جرم کی

تجھے پیار کیا تو تُو ہی بتاI
ہم نے کیا کوئی جرم کیا
اَور جرم کیا ہے تو بھی بتا
تیرے جرم کے جرم کی کیا ہے سزا

Why is that?
Is there a fossilized phrase "جرم کے جرم", "crime of crimes", i.e., "the utmost crime"?
But in that case, shouldn't it be " جرموں کے جرم" ?

My attempted translation is:

Even if I have committed a crime, tell me,
what is the penalty of your crime [of crimes?]

[the stanza belongs to "Bol kaffara kya hoga", title song of the Pakistani soap opera "Parlour Wali Larki"]

It seems that the proper final stanza would be simply:

تیرے جرم کی کیا ہے سزا
what is the penalty of your crime?

and that the second جرم is added for rhyme

and the کے is added for some idiomatic reason that I still don't understand :(
