Friends,
This sentence is from a Urdu novel, and I am unable to understand the meaning of the word نیک occurring there:
اس کی بیوی ہسپتال میں تھی۔ اس کی بیوی کو گولیاں لگی تھیں اوراس کے سیل فون میں “ہسبینڈ” کے نام محفوظ شدہ نمبر ہسپتال والوںیا شائد پولیس والوں نے ڈائل کیا تھا۔ کوئی نام، کوئی نیک، کوئی اورحوالہ نہ تھا۔
(Curiously, there is no entry for نیک in Platts Dictionary)
Thanks for help.

I'm afraid I don't know the answer to your question, @Gop ji, but I was able to find نیک in Platts' for you here (the kaf is written strangely in the dictionary, I think that's what tripped you up, FYI).

Thanks Jashn ji. It is curious you found this entry in Platts. I too found it after using that ‘strange’ form of ‘kaf’ for my search. (We already have to use ي for ی for the search window in Platts. ):)

The "strange form of "kaaf" happens to be the original Arabic representaion of this letter! :)
