The following occurs in a translation by Miraji of a poem by Edgar Allen Poe.
This reads:
lekin afsos kih mujh meN nahiiN, ab ziist ke wo ???-e-hasiiN,
wo shama3 bujhii, wo nuur miTaa, ab kuchh bhii nahiiN, ab kuchh bhii nahiiN
As you can tell, I'm having trouble making out what word ??? is
The full poem, titled swarg-baashii se, is on Rekhta [Kulliyat-e-Meeraji | Rekhta, pg. 1008--9 of the eReader]. It appears to be a loose translation of Poe's "To One in Paradise" [Edgar Allan Poe Society of Baltimore - Works - Poems - To One in Paradise], but it's loose enough a translation that knowing this doesn't help much. Perhaps it's a word that means something like "ambition," since "ambition" occurs in Poe's original in approximately the right place, but I can't think of any word that means "ambition" that ??? could be...
