I didn't tidy my room, so consequently, I won't be able to go outside.
This transaction was not recognized when I reconciled my April bank statement, so consequently I requested for dispute.
Are the words so and consequently not the same? Why do we use them together?

The gate jammed, and consequently the flight's departure was delayed.
He was always sucking his thumb when he was young, and consequently had very crooked teeth.
Can we use the word consequently without any conjunctions? Can I remove the word and from the above two sentences?
