Use of "captive"

Which one is correct?
1. I held him captive inside a dingy room.
2. I held captive him inside a dingy room.

I think the first one is correct. My question is if the second version is wrong.

    Yes, Man from India, the second one uses an abnormal word order that might be acceptable in a poem but doesn't work in a normal sentence. I held him captive...
