Use of "thanks to"

    "thanks to" is just a contraction of :-"I offer my thanks to...."
    or less personal in:- "We were rescued, thanks to the action of the lifeguard"
    It is quite acceptable.

    It is fine in many situations.
    Thanks to modern technology, the homemaker now has more leisure time.

    It is also used as a sarcastic slam:
    Thanks to you, I'll have to postpone going on vacation!
