usos de Pois

Could someone please give examples of the uses of pois? Mainly when to use it appropriately and when to use it meaning 'because', 'since' and 'for'?

I understand it for the most part but would appreciate some clarity on the subject

"Ele foi preso pois cometera um crime"

but ->

- Pois eu não gosto nada."


Idiomatic (mostly in the advervial form):
confirmation - >
"- Há duas hipóteses"
- Pois há ! / - Há pois !" (

"- A terra gira à volta do sol !" / "- Posso entrar ?"
- Pois então, claro que sim !

introduction -> "Pois bem, então vamos lá começar"

"- Queria fazer uma coisa/viagem !
- Pois então faz !" (So do it !"/ So make it happen!)

Yes, it is interchangeable with "because" -> "Por que"/ "Porquê"

Depends on the variant, simply 'pois' in Portugal, 'pois não' in Brazil.
