Vale más una gota de aceite, que un barril de vinagre

Hola foreros, ¿alguna expresión equivalente en inglés? Dudo que "A drop of oil is worth more than a barrel of vinegar ..." funcione, jaja. Gracias de antemano!

Lo que quiere decir, por cierto, es que se llega más lejos con una palabra amable (siendo agradable) que siendo mezquino. Así es como yo lo entiendo.

    I think it's "You can attract more flies with honey than with vinegar".
    That is what I was going to suggest, but I have heard it as "You catch more flies with honey than with vinegar." The idea is that the flies will come to the scent of the honey and then get stuck in it.

    The meaning is exactly what sabela has said about the Spanish, because honey is sweet (like nice words), and vinegar is sour.
