How does say "vocal fry" in French? It refers to the lowest register in bass and baritone singers, below "chest voice", or can refer to the way some pop singers sing or some people speak in raspy tones.

There's an article by Oliver Kamm in today's Times (London) about a way of speaking known as 'vocal fry'. I had never heard this term before but a quick search via Google and YouTube brought forth examples aplenty. Also known as 'creaky voice', it has become a widespread way of speaking among fashionable young women, such as Kim Kardashian. If you listen to the examples via YouTube, you'll recognise it at once. To my mind, it's more common in AE than in BE. Is there a French translation for 'vocal fry'? Does it even exist in spoken French?
