    I knew something was wrong when I saw his wacky/mischievous grin.


    Do both wacky and mischievous do the trick equally well in the above context? Thanks.
    Depending on the context, both are possible, but with different meanings (see James' post)

    --I knew something was wrong when I saw his mischievous grin (I checked my chair before I sat down, I checked my bag before I put my hand in it....and so on)

    --I knew something was wrong when I saw his wacky grin (that woman must have come to him when I wasn't here and sweet-talk her way back to his life again)
