wait till I get there

Hello. Can we say "wait till I get there" when we want to warn the other person that the distance between them and us provides them safety only until we reach them? For example, a child may continue provoking their parent thinking that the fact that the parent is not within an immediate distance they cannot get spanked. Thank you.

Child provoking the parent with something
Parent (from a considerable distance: Stop it!
Child continue provoking the parent
Parent loses it and says while walking toward the child: Wait till I get there. (Then you will see something)
