Simon wouldn't apologise for being so rude.

Simon refused to ..... for being so rude.

I have to complete this sentence including the word WAS, but I don't know how could it be.I would be grateful for being helped.Thanks.

    Here is a hint: you can't use "for being" and "was" in the same sentence.

    Hello, and welcome to the forum. What is the original sentence they provide you (i.e the whole clue) to rephrase the one above?

    The original sentence is :Simon wouldn't apologise for being so rude.

    And they give you this : Simon refused to ..... for being so rude.

    I have to complete .... including the word WAS.

    I don't see a way to use 'was' in 'Simon refused to .... for being so rude' other than 'Simon refused to say (that) he was sorry for being so rude.'
