This sentence "The ocean contains rich minerals that wash down from rivers and streams." Shouldn't "wash" be used in the passive voice "is washed", if not , why? Thanks

You need not use the passive voice, "that are washed." Over a time immemorial the English language speakers have used an active voice to describe actions such as rich minerals that wash down, cold weather that flows down from Canada or top soil that flows down with flood waters.
