--Is the first of the following awkward? Is it necessary to add "something/things" to it such as the second? Many thanks to you in advance.

--We can learn something/things much more easily than before.

    They are both rather awkward out of context.
    Either could be fine in the right context - where you have set out some reasons why learning is easier than before - but probably as part of a longer sentence.
